Occupational Noise and Vibration in Industry

Accurately assessing levels of occupational noise and vibration exposure across an industrial site is critical to protecting the occupational health and wellbeing of personnel. Allegro Acoustics has decades of collective experience in assessing occupational noise and vibration across a broad range of industrial and commercial site types to include biomedical, pharmaceutical, power generation, aircraft maintenance, heavy industry, music and entertainment, call centre, fulfilment and logistical. The services we offer relative to occupational noise and vibration typically include the following:

Occupational Noise

  • Occupational Vibration Assessment according to the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Regulations 2007: Chapter 1 of Part 5: Control of Noise at Work [S.I. No. 732 of 2007, Directive 2003/10/EC]
  • Calculation of Daily Noise Exposure Levels, LEX,8hr and ppeak based on measurement with IEC 60651 Sound Level Analysers
  • Noise dosimetry using noise dose badges for site selected personnel
  • Comparison of measured and calculated exposure values with the Exposure Action and Limit Values of 80dB, 85dB and 87dB LEX,8hr and 135dB(C), 137dB(C) and 140dB(C) ppeak
  • Noise Risk Assessment and Workplace Noise Assessment including equipment specific recommendations on how to appropriately reduce occupational noise exposure
  • Preparation of noise action plans and contoured noise mapping

Occupational Vibration

  • Occupational Vibration Assessment according to the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Regulations 2007: Chapter 2 of Part 5: Control of Vibration at Work [S.I. No. 732 of 2007, Directive 2002/44/EC]
  • Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) and Whole Body Vibration (WBV) on-site measurements
  • Calculation of Daily Vibration Exposure Levels (m/s2) for Hand Arm (HAV) and Whole Body Vibration (WBV)
  • Comparison of measured and calculated exposure values with the Exposure Action and Limit Values of 2.5m/s2 and 5m/s2 for HAV, and 0.5m/s2 and 1.15m/s2 for WBV
  • Vibration Risk Assessment and Workplace Vibration Assessment including activity specific recommendations on how to appropriately reduce occupational vibration exposure
